Thread: How to COOK RICE

Personnaly I do not cook rice without rice cooker for very long time, so I cannot say I am a good cooker. However, if you give me a rice cooker (just a normal one) I can say you will have a good rice to eat.

My method is a very traditionnal method since I don't have a new rice cooker <=> no cup that fit with the grad on the rice cooker. If you buy the new one, you will get a cup to measure the amount of rice you want and then, inside the rice cooker, you will find the grad to putin the water.

In my case, I don't care how much amount of rice I put, because I cook it one time for 2 or 3 days. So, I just use my finger to measure the amount of water. Normally, after you wash the rice 2 or 3 times, the rice will absorbe some amount of wather and then the final stap if to put the wather just about 2cm above the level of the rice (Treum Knang Day Ti 1). This method work well for me.

I say this because in Japan, you can find some kind of rice that no need to wash, just put into the rice cooker and put in the water, you can start the cook. In this case, you need to make sure that the rice are all in touch with the water for about 10s before you measure the amount of water. Some rice require us to put in the water about 1H. For me, even I cook that kind of rice, I just adjust the amount of water (alittle more water is ok).

Concerning about old rice, it consume much water than new rice. The amount of water is just 1 Touk Day (aproximatly 1/3 to 1/2 of coffee cup).

I can say that no one can have a good rice with a new cooker and new rice. It mean, the amount of wather depend on the amount of rice, type of rice, and age of rice :-)

For sticky rice, it require less water than any rice. I just know that only.
Try it one time, you can adjust the water for the next time.
